Olympus E-3: “European Advanced Camera 2008-2009”
The EISA jury was not left wanting for arguments to justify conferring the best “European Advanced Camera 2008-2009” Award on the Olympus E-3. They were clearly enthused about the Olympus flagship D-SLR: “It provides very effective image stabilisation, dust removal and a Live View function on the articulated LCD screen, but most importantly, its image quality and ease of use are very impressive”, said EISA, who also praised the camera’s robust build and splashproof qualities. The jury summed up by saying: “The Olympus E-3 is perfectly suited for professional demands”.

Olympus E-3 wins Pixelmania Award
The E-3 scored big with the Dutch digital photography website Pixelmania.nl. The newest professional D-SLR from Olympus took home the site’s Pixelmania Award, presented to the highest scorers in its consumer tests. In their report, testers noted that “...the E-3 really taps the full potential of the amazing Top Pro Zuiko lenses”. They were especially impressed by the image quality of the sample shots, calling them the best they had seen so far. The Dutch experts also compared the E-3’s colour rendition chart at ISO 3200 to that of the Canon 40D, concluding that even at high ISOs the E-3 exhibits just as little image noise as the 40D. E-510

µ 770 SW
TIPA Award for Olympus µ 770 SW: Best Innovative Design in Europe 2007
With the µ 770 SW, Olympus has taken its “rough’n’tough” camera concept a step further to overwhelming critical acclaim. TIPA had no trouble finding arguments to support its decision to give this model the Best Innovative Design in Europe 2007 Award, citing that it “succeeds in combining a heavy-duty body with an elegant design. But the all-metal finish isn’t merely cosmetic – it can withstand loads of up to 100kg, can be submerged to a depth of 10 metres, can survive falls up to 1.5 metres and still keep shooting at a temperature of -10°C!” The jury continued its accolades, saying: “With its stylish casing and all-round good looks, the µ 770 SW is as happy in a designer handbag just as much as it is in an outdoor photographer’s camera bag. An entirely unique design, it offers a great range of features beyond its rugged build, including a 3x zoom lens (38-114mm equivalent), a 7 Megapixel sensor, and Olympus’ excellent BrightCapture Technology, which allows sharp, high-quality images to be taken in low-light conditions.”
